YOUR FEEDBACK

I want to thank you for DS100 Research. Thank you for giving answers to "What's happening about economics in the Islamic World?" question.
Y. Kocaman, Turkey

"I am on the editorial board of the leading Bangladeshi business magazine, The Executive Times. I found your list of 100 Muslim companies very interesting. It certainly buries the otherwise conventional view that Islamic corporations are mostly in the oil business. What I was interested in was whether your team looked at some of the Bangladeshi corporations and conglomerates. If so, how far are they from the bottom of your list?"
R. Mostafa, Bangladesh

"Your 2004 DS100 is a very useful first attempt to rank companies in the Muslim world. I am certain that the rankings will become more accurate over time. It would also be useful to also include the profits of those companies ranked and to provide a ranking by profits."
Hock, Malaysia

"It is interesting that you fail to consider the nature of some of the businesses that you have included in your so-called top companies in the Muslim world. Being a Malaysian, we know for a certain fact that companies such as Genting Highlands and Berjaya Group Holdings have businesses which deal directly with gambling and entertainment. A clear violation of basic Islamic tenents. I hope that the criteria will be further strengthend to reflect the true nature of businesses which you consider to be the most exciting in the Muslim world."
H. Nadzrin, Malaysia

In this first attempt, our criteria was to include all domestic companies based in OIC countries. At this time we did not add another filter to qualify a 'Muslim' company.

Also, Genting Highlands and Berjaya Group Holdings were not highlighted in our 10 Most exciting companies of the DS100, but were in the overall DS100 ranking based on revenues.

DS

"Thank you for your prompt reply. I sincerely hope that you will be able to come up with a better listing that also includes companies which operate under the basic principles of Islam. Even though I did not agree to the addition of such companies to the list, I think it is best that we try to emulate the best practices in such organizations in order to better improve the quality of service offered by companies which are run and operated by Muslims."
H. Nadzrin, Malaysia

"It was very interesting to know that the muslims economic is getting better and better everyday. The top 100 companies listed are amazing, with billions of revenue."
Saiful
