The
Surabaya Stock Exchange is also the locus of the
Indonesian bond market which, after losing much
life in the late 1990s, has recently begun to
show signs of life.
It
is also a main area for FDI and investors concentrate
in the industrial area around Surabaya, in East
Java. Infrastructure is more extensive in this
area and other major commercial centers as compared
to the rest of the country. The city's markets
are also reportedly a ready source of raw materials
for businesses in other parts of the country particularly
for the weaving industry which produces woven
cloth using dyes and yarns.
